Do you need a day-of wedding coordinator?
If you have already booked your venue and vendors, it is natural to wonder whether you can run the wedding day yourselves. After 20 years and more than 300 weddings on the venue side, here are the six questions that decide it.
1. Who is setting out your personal decor in the morning?
Venues set their tables, chairs and linens, but they rarely unpack and place your welcome sign, seating chart, place cards, table numbers, guest book or memory table. Without a coordinator, a parent or wedding party member spends the morning unloading boxes instead of getting ready with you.
2. Who do your vendors call when they arrive?
Your photographer, DJ, florist, officiant and rental drivers all arrive at different times with questions about load-in, power and staging. A day-of coordinator becomes their single point of contact so your phone stays off while you get dressed.
3. Who cues the ceremony and pins the boutonnieres?
The fifteen minutes before the ceremony are when small details slip: pinning boutonnieres, handing out corsages, checking the officiant's microphone, holding the doors and spacing each pair down the aisle so nobody blocks your photographer's shot.
4. Who tells the kitchen when speeches run long?
Kitchens work to a strict clock. If a toast runs four or five minutes longer than planned and nobody updates the chef, dinner sits under heat lamps. Where the venue allows, Tyler coordinates directly with the chef and staff so dinner waits for the speeches instead of the other way around.
5. Are you hosting a tented or outdoor wedding?
Tents and private property weddings have no in-house banquet captain. Power distribution, lighting, caterer staging and weather backups all need one person in charge. See how Tyler runs tented and outdoor weddings.
6. Who packs the car at 11:00 PM?
At the end of the night, your cards, gifts, guest book, framed photos and top cake tier have to be gathered and loaded into a designated vehicle. With Union & Table, Tyler handles the packdown so your parents never lift a box at midnight.
What it costs to hand the day over
Day-of coordination with Tyler starts at $2,299, and Month-Prior planning (starting 8 to 10 weeks out) starts at $2,920. Tyler takes one wedding per weekend and personally leads every wedding he books.
